Point Pod is the recipient of a highly coveted Design Excellence Award at the 2019 Good Design Awards – one of the oldest and most prestigious international design awards in the world.

The Good Design Awards recognise and celebrate the country’s best new products and services in the Australian market, which includes excellence in architectural design, engineering, fashion, and design entrepreneurship.

Selected as a winner in the Product Design category, the Good Design Awards judging panel praised Point Pod for its “elegant, functional, intuitive and well-finished” design.

“This pop-up pod is an inconspicuous solution with a touch sensitive switch that works seamlessly. The integration of the bench top and the ease of installation are further benefits.”

Point Pod founder, Cameron Singer, said he was honoured to be a recipient of such a prestigious award.

“The Good Design Awards are the highest honour for design and innovation in the country, so we are honoured to be one of the winners,” Mr Singer said.

Being one of almost 700 design submissions, he was “humbled to not only be a finalist, but to come away with the award.”

While initial interest in the product established that the pop-up power socket system was considered essential by consumers in many kitchens, offices and entertaining areas, the industry recognition was confirmation that there was nothing else quite like it in the Australian market – and a sign to continue to innovate.

Since the Good Design Awards accolades, Point Pod also featured on the 2019 seasons of Channel 9’s The Block and Channel 7’s House Rules, and has expanded to include a sleek new black range, and integrated new wireless charging panels.

The black units come in both the black multi and black compact sizes (with USB & without USB), providing an alternative option for homes and businesses with black bench tops and fitout. The fully-integrated new Unwyre wireless charging panels feature Fast Qi, which allow you to charge your smart phone on any desk, bench, or surface up to 30 mm thick.

“Our win at the Good Design Awards, coupled with the latest expansion of our product range is just confirmation to me that we’ve created a product that is relevant, stylish and in high demand,” Mr Singer said.

“Having launched in late 2019, it’s very exciting for us to be at a point here we are already expanding to respond to consumer demand, ” he said.

“We are currently developing some new PointPod ranges, and hope to expand into the global market in the not too distant future”.
